This week we had a wonderful group of new and old guests come to stay with us here at Sund’s. Todd Banks, the president of Kenmore air, came along with his coworkers Eric, John and Andy. They also brought TLG Aerospace engineers Andrew, Scott, Steve and Robert. Tim Kelly also joined us along with his son Simon and his friends Tim and Rich. Faye Clerget also came to do some fishing with us and it was her second time here. Nick Ernst, the designer of our website, came along with his twin brother Evan. These guys all had a great time reelin’ in fish in beautiful sunny weather with no wind. The salmon fishing was once again great and this group went home limited out. The biggest chinook of the trip was caught by Todd Banks and it was a beautiful 27lber! The coho are still coming through strong and they seem to be getting bigger and bigger. Halibut fishing has slowed down a bit but the halibut these guys caught were all perfect eating size. We had an awesome week with you guys – it was so much fun hosting you! Thank you all for coming! See you all again soon 🙂 Click heading to see photos from the trip!Read More ›
Brent Peterson Fishing Classic
We kicked off the weekend right! Heather Sund’s uncle, Brent Peterson, brought a group of his family and friends up to Sund’s Lodge to do a little fishin’. We also had Scott Sund and his family join us to make it a full crowd here. This crew all felt like one big family and there seemed to be a smile on everyones faces at all times. The salmon fishing has been continuously steady with the chinook all being in the 15-25lb range – but Bryson broke the streak and pulled in a 30.5lb chinooker as the biggest salmon of the trip! Cassie hauled in a beauty 20.5lb halibut and proudly wore home our official guide hat as her prize. Not only did this group take home a ton of fish, but they also took home about 3/4 of our gift shop! But don’t worry- we’ve been busy restocking for our guests to come. Thank you all for coming to spend your weekend with us! See you upstream.Read More ›
Cabela’s Club Signature Outdoor Adventure
What an exciting week here at Sund’s Lodge! Cabela’s brought in a group of 22 guests from across the states for a fishing adventure. None of them had ever been to Sund’s Lodge before and very few had ever been on the BC coast, so it was a very exciting and new experience for everyone! Although they were newbies to the lodge, they definitely knew what they were doing when it came to fishing. These guys absolutely killed it on the first afternoon – some really nice chinook came into the dock, with the largest being 23lbs caught by Dan Kehoe, and a ton of huge coho. The second day of the trip was a little rainy in the morning, but the burger boat brought the sun and the burger boat bite. Again, a ton of coho and quite a few mid size chinook came into the dock at the end of the day. On beach bistro day, the third day of the trip, the sun came out and fishing heated up as some really nice +20lb halibut were caught and the biggest fish of the trip, a 23.5lb chinook was caught by David Haas. It was an awesome day for fishing and a little party on the beach. On the last morning the spring fishing really got hot and many of our guests caught their limits and filled their fish boxes to the brims with +15lb chinook. We were sad to see this great group of friends leave our dock on Friday afternoon, but we look forward to hosting them in the future. Thank you all for coming to Sund’s Lodge! This past week we had a group of our old friends come and stay with us. April and Jim Haberman brought their kids Ben and Rachel for some family fishing time. Deb and Joe Bernard joined us again along with Claudia Glover, and Benny & Hal from Tyson Foods. Larry and Jean Armbruster also joined us this weekend and went catching instead of fishing. This trip’s biggest salmon weighed in at 31.5lbs and it was caught by Claudia on captain Travis’s boat. Nice one Claudia! The weather here was pretty warm and sunny with a nice cool breeze on the water. The fishing was once again great this weekend – it hasn’t seemed to slow down since June! TEAM NEBRASKA & TEAM GERMANY!
We have had such a fun week with our friends from Nebraska and Germany. From team Nebraska we had newbies Brian & Vicki Winfield come along with our old friends Don & Stephanie Leedings, Kevan & Joy Exstrum and Marty & Judy Hoch. From team Germany we had Martin and Birgit Berchtenbreiter. Team Nebraska divided into ladies and gents teams on the last day to have a little competition. The largest seven fish from each boat were added up and the losing team had to make dinner for the winning team once they arrived back home in Nebraska. The ladies ended up winning by a whopping 29.5lbs. Sorry boys, get out your aprons! We had so much fun on this 5 day trip with you, see you all next summer! Click heading to see photos from the trip.

Another great fishing trip has come and gone here at Sund’s Lodge. The Katz family from Ontario joined us along with Louie and Dave Canavan from New York, and Erich Armbruster came for the second time this season with his colleagues David and Jim. Jon, Ryan and Jim Ribary also came to do some fishin’ with us. Once again the fishing was unreal. Bottom fishing was really hot with a few large hali’s and some nice lingcod coming into the dock. Dan Katz brought in this trip’s largest hali at 58.5 lbs. It measured in at 132cm – just 1cm under the limit of 133cm. The big salmon of the trip was a 27lb chinook caught by Daniel on guide Keith’s boat. Although the weather was rainy for the first two days of the trip, the sun broke through for beach bistro and everyone got to enjoy some rays here in paradise. However – rain, wind, fog or sun; this place always seems to be beautiful. Thank you all for coming to fish with us, see you next summer! Click heading to see pictures from the trip.Read More ›
Today we had to say goodbye to our friends Tim, Cheri, John and Colin as they head back home to get back to the grind after a nice break from reality here at Sund’s. Cheri’s son, Chase, had to leave a day early to get back to work but he boarded the plane with an extra 39lbs of salmon to take home and share with his friends. We also said goodbye to the Case family after their eighth visit here. They brought along their grandparents Barb and Rick. These guys all had a blast reelin’ in fish and spending time together out on the water. Bob and Ed Matthews also joined us this week for the eighth time and they brought along Rod and Marilyn Nelson, Alvin Carr and Bryce Taylor for their third visit here. These 7 stayed an extra day and fished all day on Friday and Saturday morning. Although they wished they could have stayed another week they had to leave because they had their limits of salmon and halibut and their arms were too sore to reel in another pink! We had a blast hosting this group of good friends. Thank you all for coming again, see you next year! Click heading to see pictures from the trip.Read More ›
The fish dance worked for this past group! We hosted Doug Jacobson and his group of fathers and sons this weekend and even though they missed out on fishing the first afternoon because of wind, they still boated a ton of fish and went home with full fish boxes. Fishing has been steady with lots of pink and coho along with some really nice sized chinook and halibut. Our guides haven’t had to go too far from home to get into fish either as Paul’s and Coho Point have been producing some nice salmon just minutes away from our dock. This weekend the biggest salmon of the trip was a 31lb chinook caught by our old friend Jim Turner on Captain Jason’s boat! We are super happy that Jim brought in a tyee here at Sund’s Lodge to beat his personal record of 15lbs. Doug Jacobson brought in the biggest halibut of the trip weighing in at 48lbs on Keith’s boat. We had so much fun with this group of guys as they all came to Sund’s to spend some father-son time out fishin’. See you all next summer! Click heading to see pictures from the trip.Read More ›
What a week! All of our staff are still recovering from this past trip, as we had the rowdy boys from Nevada Cement come to party with us. Tom Goodwin also joined us with his family from Idaho. Tom’s daughter-in-law Brooklyn, caught her first fish ever and now she’s hooked! This group loaded up on coho, pink, chinook…and beer. Although no tyees came into the dock, this group caught quite a few springs in the 20lb class with the biggest being 24lbs caught by Terry Cowan. Check out our facebook and instagram pages for more pictures! See you upstream.Read More ›
This weekend we had Flora Springs Winery come and stay with us along with our friends Jack and Cyndi Sparacio, Maggie and Phil Stalcup, John and Judy Mittsenthal, Terrie Cox, Mike Rau and Bruce Shaw. We had so much fun with this group! Sarah, Nicole, Sally and Terrie taught the hostesses how to do the electric slide, and Phil kept everyone entertained at dinner with his jokes. The fishing continued to be hot and this group ended up bringing home 975 lbs of fish. They almost drank our whole wine cellar too! Thank you all for coming and fishing with us – see you next year!
