June 12

Friday, June 12th, 2009

A beautiful day up here, although a bit windy in the afternoon for the halibut fishers that ventured out to the Strait.  Fishing was slow but Jeff Exstrum got a nice halibut for big fish of the day honors.  He caught the fish, he sat in the Big Fish Chair, and he is king for the evening.  A perfect way to start the season.

The Guests Arrive!

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Day 1 and we’re off to the races.  All signs point to a great summer.  If you are on your way up this summer, you are going to have an incredible stay!  If you’re not planning on coming up…shame on you!  Start thinking about summer 2010!

More from early June

geoffs-snapper1Locals are saying this is the warmest they can ever remember June being.  And after two difficult fishing seasons, the ocean seems ALIVE right now.  Lots of bait and krill, lots of early whales around, and SALMON- more so on the Inside Passage than we have seen in a while.  We’re pretty excited for what is to come this summer!

And check out the next picture of Uncle Bob- in 2 days he caught a 140 lb. halibut and a 33 lb salmon.  It was the best fishing trip of his almost 80 years!

Ling cod!Oh my gosh- it has started!  With first guests arriving soon, we the staff got out for a little earlyJune fishing and we had an amazing time.  Big lings, big snapper, and big salmon.  This June has provided some of the best weather and some of the best early fishing we’ve ever seen!
