Fish are rolling into Sund's Lodge

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

We sent a couple of test boats out yesterday with the guides and there are definitely fish rolling into the system!  Spenser got the largest chinook of the day at 22 pounds, Uncle Bob bagged an 18, Sammy caught a nice ling, and Mike got this huge yelloweye rockfish.  Not pictures is Chef Paul’s first halibut- about 25 lbs.  After a week of working to get the property ready, it was great to get on the water and catch some fish!

While you are waiting (guys are out fishing now!) I thought I would brighten your day with a picture of my sweet baby girl Harper Jo Sund.  Is it my imagination or is she incredible?????

While the crews ready boats, fix the dock (see yesterday’s post!), prepare cabins, and prep the menu, I sit in the office trying to get to the bottom of my to-do’s.  This mess below tells you how I am doing…not very good so far!

This isn't a good thing to see when you come to the dock….

Not a great sight to see at dawn this morning.  A dead head lodged itself under the dock and when the tide went down- the log burst through the dock!  Yikes!

This doesn't look right!

I just had some good friends fly in and help me get the lodge ready by catching fish, sitting in the hot tubs, playing round after round of Bocce ball, eating good food, and hanging out.  What better way to get Sunds Lodge started than having people here having a great time?  Fishing was solid with a couple nice chinooks and limits of halibut to be had.  It was a great weekend!

Fish! Already? Yes!

We were out exploring for salmon this weekend we found some good fishing to be had.  Over the Long weekend guest Travis Lee banged this 18 pound spring on while trolling for a few hours on the backside.  It was Travis’ first salmon and although his buddy Ranjy was asleep on the bow (after being seasick), Travis did just fine.  Way to go Trav!

The Rhodies are in bloom!

It’s coming!  The Season of 2010 is rapidly approaching!  And as we ready the boats and the property, Mother Nature is doing her best with preparing the Inside Passage for the returning salmon of the coming summer.

The dock is out! Now its ready for boats!

We’ve been doing a bit of fishing and early reports are strong.  We’re also working hard to ensure as a staff this is the finest summer ever at Sund’s Lodge!

Be checking back often for daily fish reports and updates on all that is new at Sund’s Lodge!

Best wishes,
Scott
