After a nearly 3 hour fog delay, the pipe guys finally got into the lodge around 3pm. They were so eager to get out on the water they skipped lunch after quesadillas on the back deck and hit the water. Although the session was short, there some fish caught. Matt got the big fish of the day with his 22 lbr. Everyone is excited for tomorrow!

The Pipe guys roll in- better late than never!
Saturday, July 31st, 2010Let the Good Times Roll @ Sund’s Lodge
Friday, July 30th, 2010Another great day on the Beach Bistro day. The morning started with Mike Parker joining the tyee club with this 33 lbr- that makes the two biggest fish of the trip caught by the Parker boys. Nice job guys! Lots of other chinooks were caught in the morning tide and some nice cohos too. Gabe caught the biggest kid fish with his 22 lbr. But the real star of the day was Katherine Bernal, who after the Beach Bistro, went out with Capt. Dudds to the deep water of Queen Charlotte Strait to nail a 92 lb halibut. It got pretty rough out there but Katherine battled the fish and ended up with the largest halibut ever caught by a juvenile at Sund’s Lodge. Way to go Katherine!

Team Canada had a great day with Capt. Sammy, limiting on chinooks and halis by noon. Team Brit nailed the big halis with Tiny Dancer and everyone else had a GREAT day. Gabe came in with the biggest kid fish at 16 lbs but both his sister and cousin JoJo got into the action with some pinks. Everyone was smiles on the back deck! Another great day on the Inside Passage.

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010
The group arrived today from as far as England, and as close as Vancouver with folks from California, Seattle, Kamploops and Minnesota sprinkled in. The first afternoon was a bit slow but the few fish that hit the dock were absolute slabs. Brad from Kamloops caught the biggest ling cod of the summer at 40 lbs and Andrew Parker nailed this beautiful 37 lb chinook at Flower Island with Capt. Shaun. So far it is the 3rd largest fish of the summer. Way to go guys- those are some real hogs!

A beautiful full moon hanging over the water at daybreak

A great trip of family and friends spent the last day together at the Beach Bistro having a blast. Fishing was slow to start with a full moon hanging over the water that probably contributed to fish feeding during the night and thus, eliminating the morning bite. But by mid morning the bite had started and lots of big ones were caught. Charles got the TOP DOG honor with his nice 26 lbr taken with Capt. Millar at Craycroft. The kids had special awards and got to spend the night fishing off the dock while the parents finished their 4 course dinner. It has been a magical trip for the Will family and friends!

The Boss got a little salty before the beach lunch!

Regan's big one! Biggest KID CAUGHT fish of summer!
High winds once again buffeted the boats from Sund’s Lodge but the guides were able to make a morning of it. And boy, are we glad they did! Some great big fish have re-entered the system. Joann caught this monster 38 pounder with Capt. Millar at Cracroft after a MONSTER fight. It registers as the second biggest fish of the summer so far. Many other fishin the 20′s were caught, including Marie Will’s second chinook on the morning with Capt. Spenny. As Marie was bringing her fish in, hubby Steve had a double header and despite having had major shoulder surgery recently, was able to bring it right next to the boat. The fish eventually spit the hooks but it was quite a double header! In the afternoon boats went out for a few hours to try their luck in the wind and little Regan, 8 years old, caught this 27 pounder with Capt. Dudds- hooked in the back! What a fight! A great day for the team.

Joann's 38 lbr. - 2nd biggest of summer so far

The first afternoon of the Willeti Pachena Fish Derby!
Saturday, July 24th, 2010A beautiful afternoon here on the Inside Passage with some new guests getting into some good fish! Jack and Regan both got some kid fish, Stacy cauht a nice hali in Queen Charlotte Strait, Renee got a dandy chinook with Capt. Sammy but the big fish story is the ol’ McPikes….who once again showed the Will party how to fish! John and Kathy both landed twin 20 pounders off Bold Head with Capt. Spenny. Way to go guys!

A beautiful bistro day at Lizard Point
Thursday, July 22nd, 2010A great beach lunch today! Fishing was a mixed bag: Alvin once again got the big fish of the day, Team Canada had an awesome day with Captain Burger, and lots of other fish were caught. In general fish have been more spread out then in weeks past but everyone in the group has got into a little bit of action. Calm seas and sunny skies made fishing very enjoyable– all in all, a pretty good day in paradise.

Glorious Day on the Inside Passage
Tuesday, July 20th, 2010Although fishing wasn’t red hot today, it was an awesome fishing day on the inside passage. The wind stayed low, the sun came out, and fun times were had when Paul came out and served us lunch on the Burger Boat. Rod and Marilyn had an awesome husband/wife day with big springs and big halis. Vince and Tracey Vavrek had a great “hali” day. Marcia had big fish of the day honors with her big 26 lbr. The big fish story of the day goes to Team Idaho fishing with Captain Dudds. The Idaho boys caught some nice chinooks early and then didn’t have great luck when they went for ling cod during the mid day. They decided to troll for salmon close to the lodge to end the day when WHAM! Alvin hoooked and landed a 79 lb halibut…on his salmon rod! This would be one of the larger halis on salmon rods ever taken at Sund’s Lodge. A great day for sure!

July 19 afternoon
Tuesday, July 20th, 2010Guests arrived this afternoon for the start of the 2nd 5 day fishing trip of the summer. Afternoon conditions were pretty decent but fishing was a bit slow. Most guests were just preparing for the great fishing that is sure to follow today! ![]()
Marilyn Nelson was quite excited with this 4 lb pink she nailed off Swanson Island. Big fish of the day honors went to Bob Matthews with this dandy 21 taken off Bold Head. Way to go Bob! Back in the big fish chair where you belong!
