This photo (above) is taken near midnight on a pitchblack night as Malcolm Island and surrounding areas was pounded by a thunder and lightning storm. Andrew, the photographer for the Gary Cooper shoot on July 7-11, ran down to the dock and shot this. The booming of the thunder and the lightning striking within a mile of the lodge was quite an experience for all. Each thunder strike actually shook the buildings. The animals went berserk and a small forest fire actually started on Malcolm Island at Point No Point from a lightning strike (it was quickly put out by BC Forests the next day). It was the first storm of this kind we have experienced in the 27 years we have lived on Malcolm Island.
Just wanted to share a very cool picture with all of you!
