Sund's Lodge

Prospective Guests : The Area

Nothing can prepare you for the wonder of the northern wilderness. The calm and tranquil waters that front Sund’s Lodge are afforded by the protection of the northern tip of Vancouver Island. Rolling mountains provide shelter from the winds of the untamed Pacific Ocean not many miles away. What this means for our customers is that you are far away north that fishing is still fantastic, but the sheltered waters of our area leave no ocean swell and most days people feel like they are fishing on a placid lake.

The Wildlife

In this land where wildlife is abundance, the calm silence of nature is intoxicating. The physical beauty of the Blackfish Sound area surrounding Malcolm Island is phenomenal. To the northeast the awe-inspiring snow covered peaks of British Columbia’s Coastal Mountain Range rise above the forest covered foothills of the Broughton Archipelago Provincial Park. As you travel the calm waters of the Inside Passage, you can expect to see the breathtaking sights of splashing salmon, diving Bald eagles, porpoises, seals, otters, sea birds and the rulers of the local sea, Orca, Humpback and Minke Whales. On land you will see black bear, deer, and mink. Enjoy the view from your boat, stroll along the beach, or take a relaxing paddle in one of our sea kayaks. All the senses are filled and the soul is revitalized in this magical place.
