Incoming Guests: Travel

Starting at the end of 2006, any American must have a passport to enter back into the United States. There is absolutely no working around this and passports should be applied for soon as it takes months to get them.

As transportation is not included in our price to Sund’s Lodge, there are 3 ways to get here. You can drive to Port McNeil and park your vehicles there and be picked up by Sund’s Lodge boats. From Seattle, Port McNeil is about 10 hours of travel time. (CLICK HERE FOR DRIVING DIRECTIONS)

Or you can fly out of Vancouver on Pacific Coast. Flights depart Vancouver around 8:00am and arrive into Port Hardy around an hour later. From there, Sund’s Lodge can arrange van transportation (at guest’s cost) down to Pt. McNeil where our boats will be waiting at 11:30 am (trip begins at noon). Make sure you book your flight arriving into Port Hardy before 11 am on your arrival day and not before 1 pm on your departure day.

Or the most popular route is to fly on floatplane with Kenmore Air out of Seattle’s Lake Union. Kenmore Air has been our primary mode of transportation for over a decade and they do a great job for our customers. Kenmore can arrange ground transportation from Sea-Tac and hotel accommodations at a hotel in downtown Seattle very close to the floatplane base. The flight time from Seattle is around 2.5 hours and lands right at our dock. It is hands down the most beautiful and simplest form of transportation for our guests.

Because of weight concerns on floatplanes, guests flying on floatplanes can only bring 25 lbs. of baggage on the floatplane with them. Your bags will be weighed when you arrive at Kenmore Air. Remember, we furnish all the fishing gear you’ll need. Pack light so you’ll have plenty of room to bring home your fish! And don’t forget your passports!
